Jennifer has been practicing in the alternative healthcare field for over fifteen years. Her core beliefs are based on taking a holistic approach with all patients, to recognize each patient as a unique individual. Jennifer believes the only way to achieve optimum health, is when the body and mind are in balance. This is often achieved by helping to create an awareness, by allowing people to discover their own mind/body connection, and to also help people realize their connection within their immediate environments. These are powerful components of each patient’s healing journey that are integral to acupuncture and Eastern medicine.
Jennifer is a Registered Acupuncturist trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She graduated from MacEwan University in Edmonton in 2005 and interned at The Heze Medical College in Shandong province, China in the spring of the same year. Jennifer holds certification in: addiction treatment and acu-detox protocols; sport injury and physical pain treatment and management; meridian therapy for chronic pain; and auricular therapy (ear acupuncture). Jennifer also specializes in the
treatment of hormone regulation, stress, and mental-emotional issues. She has had great success in treating emotional disorders, even when combined with Western medicine. As a registered massage therapist in Alberta for twelve years, Jennifer treated sports-related injuries, muscular-skeletal pain and chronic repetitive strain injuries. Jennifer has worked for many years with various heli-ski companies and has experience treating ski and snowboard injuries. She uses both massage and acupuncture during her treatments as well as moxabustion, guasha, and cupping techniques to resolve underlying issues—relieving not only the symptoms, but getting to the root of the problem. Jennifer is a member of the CTCMA, TCMABC, QATCM, NADA and NHPC and is a MSP Acupuncture Provider.
Acupuncture treatments are included in many extended health plans. For those with MSP premium subsidies, MSP will cover $23/treatment up to ten acupuncture treatments annually.
Jennifer finds her own personal balance by maintaining an active lifestyle outdoors, cooking with friends, and travelling to see how other cultures heal their sick. She is currently on maternity leave and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on March 14th. She will return to practice June 1st. Dr. Fisher will be providing acupuncture treatments while Jennifer is away.
