Alina Repede, RCC
As a graduate of Masters of Clinical Psychology and long term Buddhist practitioner, I use a combination of client-centred counselling and Buddhist psychology to assist individuals, and couples, in transforming life difficulties, such as stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief, into opportunities to cultivate greater self-awareness and to enhance peace and enjoyment in life.
The core of my practice is to accompany you in mindfully developing your own inner exploration towards the discovery of your own truth. This is what I call mindful inquiry. Mindfulness is the awareness that emerges through paying attention, non-judgmentally, to one’s experience in the present moment.
I believe that all genuine and lasting healing – psychological, emotional, and spiritual – is the natural result of learning to relax into our own experience. The more we allow ourselves to simply be in this inherent, living space of presence, the more ease and peace we begin to experience in our lives. And as we continue to develop our new habit of aligning with this inner presence, we spontaneously and naturally make space for everything that is arising in our lives.
This usually involves the sharing of at least some of your own story. Often this can mean discovering or revealing issues that are very difficult. Regardless of how painful or challenging the underlying issues may be, my commitment is to be there with you every step of the way. My experience – my conviction – is that I can help you get through; what you will discover is worth the pain! What makes this possible is that this exploration takes place within a space of unconditional presence, of total trust, acceptance and non-judgment of whatever may arise in the course of our time together.
By no longer turning away from problems and suffering – from reality as it is – an opportunity is created in which we can engage with life to the fullest. We also become willing, and more able, to look at the underlying conditions that perpetuate the unskilful tendencies, the habitual patterns, which have been the cause of so much unhappiness in our life. In so doing, we bring into being the circumstances needed for real transformation.
As we move more deeply into this natural way of being, we find ourselves cultivating a non-resistance to whatever is arising in our life. This non-resistance is not a self-imposed practice, but rather a spontaneous state of mind, a deeply felt allowing that prevents inner conflict and tensions, and therefore brings meaning, and definitely more peace and ease in both the inner and outer aspects of our lives.
This is where true and lasting transformation and healing take place. I welcome you to join me in a mindful inquiry that will lead to more ease and contentment with life ‘as it is’.
